Soil and Plant Laboratory, Inc. was founded in 1946 by Mr. Oris A. Matkin. Mr. Matkin was one of the authors of the book "U.C. SYSTEM FOR PRODUCING HEALTHY CONTAINER GROWN PLANTS".

This manual, accepted in the United States and around the World, has revolutionized the greenhouse and nursery industries. Over the course of a half century, Mr. Matkin’s contributions have been instrumental in the constant evolution and improvement of testing methods and equipment, soil fertility parameters and general plant health, commonly practiced today.

Soil and Plant Laboratory is an employee owned company, dedicated to providing information of practical value for the resolution of production problems in a wide range of Horticultural Industries.
